A rough idle, a misfire or an engine warning light can all be signs that your BMW needs attention. On N43 and N53 petrol engines, the fuel injectors are one possible area to investigate.
These engines use high-pressure petrol direct injection. Each injector delivers fuel into the combustion chamber, so correct fuel delivery matters to how smoothly the engine runs. An injector fault can affect combustion, but similar symptoms can also come from spark plugs, ignition coils and other engine faults.
Why the spark plugs matter
The spark plugs are part of that diagnostic picture. Their condition can provide useful clues about what is happening inside the engine. Deposits or differences between plugs need to be considered alongside the symptoms, fault codes and test results. A photo of a plug on its own cannot confirm an injector fault.
The photos here give you a close-up look at BMW petrol injectors and spark plugs from the workshop. They are the sort of components that need careful assessment when tracking down a running problem.
Getting to the cause
At Speedwell, we use diagnostic information and targeted testing to investigate rough running and warning lights. We explain what we find and discuss the next step with you.
When you call, let us know whether the problem happens on a cold start, at idle or while driving, and whether any warning lights are showing. Those details help guide the investigation.
We know these BMW systems well. If yours is not running as it should, call Speedwell on 07 846 2137 to book a diagnostic assessment at our Frankton, Hamilton workshop.
