We test the battery, starter motor and alternator under operating conditions to determine whether the problem is a failing component, poor connection, charging-system fault or another underlying issue. Common symptoms include:

Battery Drain and Parasitic Draw Testing
If your battery goes flat while the vehicle is parked, replacing the battery may not solve the problem. We measure the vehicle's electrical draw and isolate the circuit or component that is remaining active when it should be switched off.
Wiring, Connector and Sensor Faults
Damaged wiring, corroded terminals, poor earth connections and failed sensors can produce misleading fault codes and intermittent symptoms. We inspect and test the relevant circuits before condemning components.
Warning Lights and Diagnostic Faults
A fault code identifies the system that detected a problem. It does not always identify the failed part. We interpret the fault information, test the affected system and confirm the cause before recommending repairs.
Intermittent Electrical Problems
Intermittent electrical faults may not appear when your vehicle arrives, making diagnosis harder. Where appropriate, we may need to monitor the vehicle, road-test it with diagnostic equipment connected or reproduce the conditions in which the fault occurs.

Scan and test the relevant systems
We connect diagnostic equipment to check for fault codes and test the associated circuits and components. Depending on the vehicle and the fault, this may include oscilloscope testing or network diagnostics.
Confirm the cause
A fault code or initial scan points us toward a system or circuit, not necessarily the failed part. We test further to confirm the actual cause before recommending any repair.
Explain the findings
Once we have confirmed the cause, we explain what we have found in plain English. No additional diagnostic work or repair work is carried out without the customer's approval.

Auto electrical diagnostic testing is a paid professional service. It requires specialist equipment, technical knowledge and time to test the vehicle's systems and confirm the actual cause of a fault.
Before any testing begins, we confirm the current diagnostic charge with you. If a fault requires further testing beyond the initial diagnostic testing, we will discuss this with you and gain your approval before proceeding.

No. We test the battery and charging system first, then recommend the correct replacement only if it is required.
